Taj Mahal – A tribute of Love from an emperor to his wife

This beautiful splendid monument is situated in Agra (Uttar Pradesh) and its beauty cannot be measured in words. The main reason behind the designing of this monument is the immense love of a husband towards his wife. This monument was constructed by the orders of Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan in the memory of his beloved and beautiful wife Mumtaj Mahal, with whom the Emperor fell in love at the first vision. This monument is situated on the bank of Yamuna River and it’s also known as the symbol of love and romance.

The construction of this monument was starts began in 1632 and was completed around 1653, finally constructed as an integrated complex of structures. The construction of the Taj Mahal was done by over 20,000 workmen and master craftsmen. These people worked laboriously for almost 22 years to give beautiful shape to the Emperor’s wife lasts wish. The material for the construction of this marvelous monument was ordered from all over India and central Asia. A fleet of more than 100 elephants are used to carry the material to the site and the total cost incurred after the construction was 32 Million Rupees.

Basically, the entire Taj complex consists of five major constituents named- Darwaza (the main gateway), Bageecha (The gardens), Masjid (The rest house), Naqqar khanna (The Rest house), Rauza (Then main mausoleum). The pure white color marbles are used to construct the tomb of the Taj Mahal, which stands on a square platform that crowned by a large dome. Like others Mughal tombs, the basic elements used for this tomb is Persian in origin. The tomb of this monument is raised on a terrace and entirely enclosed in marbles. But, the mosque and counter-mosque on the slanting axis are built in red sandstone. Due to all such specialties, this monument is counted in the list of seven wonders of world.

There are various stories behind the construction of Taj Mahal, but the real reason was love and passion of the Mughal Emperor for his dearest wife. It is said that, constructing the most beautiful monument was the last wish of his wife and the emperor love his wife so much that he completed her wish and buried her grave in the monument. Thus, the Taj Mahal is one of the most beautiful destination places in India and all day’s huge numbers of visitors desires to visit this wonderful marble monument.
