The Pyramids and the Sphinx

The Pyramids and the SphinxBasically, the Sphinx was engraved over 4,500 years ago and it was carved for the Pharaoh Khafre. Because this, the sculpture had his head and the body of a lion. The sphinx sculptures were engraved out of a huge big stones, which works as guardians of Khafre’s pyramid. These sculptures were completely covered by sand which preserved it all these current years. The body of these sculptures is made up of extreme soft rock and its head is of very strong rock. Due to this stiffness some people used the head for their gunshot practice. But, nobody knows for sure that why it was garlanded within the days of the Ancient Egyptians but it must have been very beautiful after that.

The Pyramids were basically created to hide the tombs of the Pharaohs. The first Pyramids constructed were step Pyramids that help the Pharaoh to raise the steps and join the sun god Ra in the sky. After that, about 4,500 years ago, the biggest Pyramids of all came and these Pyramids were of kings Khufu and Khafre. Moreover, about 100 years ago these Pyramids were the tallest structures of the world out of all Pyramids even no earth quake can demolish them. Each of these structures was built of more than 2 million blocks of stone and each block considered about as much as a small elephant weigh. Later the limestone coverings were started stripped by people for building use. Furthermore, in these Pyramids there were lots of false doors to trick critical pickpockets but they did not work as much.

Due to its extensive beauty, the Pyramids and the Sphinx, Egypt is count in the Seven Wonder of the World and known as “The Great Pyramid of Giza”. There are mainly three Pyramids in Giza: The Great Pyramid of Khufu, The Pyramid of Khafre and The Smaller Pyramid of Menkaura. Large number of people comes to visit these places. Here each Pyramid shaped as a tomb to a different king of Egypt. Sphnix lies in front of the Pyramids and carved out of a single block of stones. Thus, these huge cat-like sculptures have fascinated millions of visitors from each corner of the world.
